Shadiq and Mummy with HFMD

Haven't been updating the blog for a while..partly because I am down with HFMD. No fever but just blisters on my hands and feet. This is the third time I got it and still it itch horribly not to say that it is painful as well. Shadiq is getting better though, no more blisters and ulcers but the rashes and blisters around his butt and groin area still drying.

Went to Doctor Aziz for check-up when I discovered the red spots on my hands last Saturday. The baby is doing fine and since I got no fever, I am only given medication to ease the itchiness and pain. But it sure made me sleep alot...even drooling in my sleep because of the ulcers in my mouth... yes,I am drooling like a baby.
Herman got a wonderful time spring-cleaning the house (again!) amd we spent more money on dettol and disinfectant spray. I made it a point to clean the toilet after I or Shadiq use it everytime, put my plate, cups and toothbrush separately, plus airing the blankets and pillows everyday.
Still feeling drowsy from the medication.....

Shadiq with HFMD (Part 3)

Took half day today just to look after Shadiq. I got HFMD a few years earlier so I kind of know how itchy and irritating it can be when you got it. Anyway, he found some of my paints and started playing with it. He got all messy and dirty but I don't have the heart to scold him. He look so cute and engrossed with all the paint on him (partly because he was under 'confinement').

But at least he's getting better. The red spots on his hands and feet are starting to disappear so are the ulcers in his mouth. Still drooling though...probably can fill up a 1-litre bottle with his drools (maybe I should and give it to somebody I really hate). He got rashes and blisters around the butt and groin area but that started to dry too. Hopefully, he will be better by this week but there is still the window period of one more week till he fully recover.

Shadiq with HFMD (Part 2)

Poor Shadiq, had to be confined to his room the whole day and already he started to get bored. After going through a bunch of VCDs, DVDs (we placed them within his reach so he can pick and choose, he knows how to use the DVD player), he started to throw the toys around and fiddling with mummy and daddy's stuff. Our room started to look like a tornado just went through it. I decided to run down to my centre to fetch a few of my stationaries that he can play and use.
Got a few paints, colour papers, sticky sticks and scissors. I let him play with the scissors first. These are not your normal metal scissors but the plastic scissors that won't cut through flesh and hair, only paper. Got this as one of the Teacher's Day gift.
Here are some pics of what he did during his 'confinement':
Shadiq and his toys...all around the room...

Using the scissors to cut the colour papers.

Finally, he got bored and started to cut his hair..Then he invite his ayah to have a haircut...Anyone else wanna have a haircut, please apply here.

Shadiq with HFMD

After days and weeks of cleaning and making sure everything is kept clean and germs-free, tetapi Tuhan juga yang menentukan... Shadiq got the HFMD. He has ulcers in his mouth, red spots on his hands and feet, apparently like rashes and blisters. No fever but as the doc said, that will bound to come in the later stage. Its not so serious but still its a full-blown HFMD.
How did he get it? My guess is that he got it either from his cousin (who got HFMD earlier and just recovered) whose family is staying with us for awhile or he got it from outside when we went for our 'jalan-jalan'. Anyway, its extra cleaning from now on. The whole house smells like a hospital, what with the dettol and disinfectant spray.
Shadiq is doing fine except that he seems to get 'extra' energy, playing non-stop. Its either he is fighting his own sickness or he got 'extra' energy from the medicine he is taking right now.
My principal told me not to go to work and stay at home at the risk of getting it from Shadiq and spreading to the children. I still need approval though from my administrator. Wow..that means two weeks of MC.....

Sleeping after taking his medicine, we brought his toys in so that he will be confined to the room. Won't spread to others. Salivating in his sleep because of the ulcers.

See the red spots on the feet...like blisters and is quite itchy to him...

I, however, have to be extra careful when taking care of him coz of my pregnancy. We heard that at a neighbouring childcare, the teachers got infected with HFMD too. But Insya-Allah, everything will be alright if we take the necessary precautions. Herman sprained his back while playing with Shadiq (that shows how heavy Shadiq is or more like how OLD the father is getting on) and now he got to carry Shadiq whenever he woke up because of the ulcers in the mouth.
My father (Pak Atid) said he got ulcers in his mouth too so he asked me if he got HFMD....anybody wanna go check for him?

Guess the Baby?

Last Friday, me and Herman took half-day leave to enrol Shadiq for Nursery next year. We did alot of surfing for the kindergartens and though I work in a kindergarten, i did not want him at my centre. Coz mainly their second language is Mandarin and we wanted him to be exposed to religious studies as well. After much consideration, we decided to go for Jamiyah. It is nearer to our area but he still need to take the transport as it is a few bus stops away. It is a 3-hour session and we choose the morning session (8am-11am)as he wake up early every morning 630am or 7am the latest. We need to wait for another letter for the orientation.
now if I can only make him wear the songkok.......

Went for my check-up last Saturday. Got extra medication coz Herman's cousin who is staying with us got the HFMD so the doc gave me additional vitamins to boost up me and the baby's immune system. And we also get to see the baby. Shadiq was really excited to get to see the baby on the screen but then he kept asking both of us after that. In his own words "Where's the baby? Where?" Tried to tell him baby is in ibu's tummy, he got angry and said "No! Where's baby?!" He wanted to see the real baby not just a picture. Still got four more months to go, I'm due in September, bulan Ramadhan, doc say no puasa for me, worried that I might not have the energy during labour if I puasa. Looks like Hari Raya I won't be eating rendang, sambal goreng, kuih, nasi beryani.....

Anyway about the scan, we finally get to know the sex of the baby. Doc say its 99% confirm about the sex. See the picture below. Anybody wanna take a guess what the sex of the baby is?
